Twenty fullsized sized replicas of the Fiat 500C have become planters at the Montenapoleone, Milan’s main fashion and jewelry street. Fabio Novembre designed the fiberglass models to form more shade on the popular sidewalk. The project is called Per fare un albero, create a tree in English, and was made in order of the Municipality of Milan. The Fiats will stay parked till the 30th of September, afterwards they will be moved to other places in Milan.

Making Lambs Anger

The French famous underground musician Mr Oizo , also known as the filmmaker and music producer Quentin Dupieux, had recently released a full length album called “Lambs Anger” . Dupieux had what ordinary people would might call “a vision”. Here’s the Making of Lambs Anger.

Bertone Lancia Stratos Zero

Lancia introduced at the begin of the seventies their extraordinary Stratos Zero Prototype. The design of the car was taken care by Gruppo Bertone. The whole concept started with the idea of making a ultimate racing machine. The car had sharp futuristic curves, a low mid-motor and an unusual short wide proportions. This resulted in great traction and power, the Lancia Stratos HF was born.

The bodywork was designed by Marcello Gandini, the head designer at Bertone. Ganidni designed before the Stratos the first scissors doors on the Alfa 33 Carabo Concept (1968) and continued his ideas with the Lamborghini Countach LP400 (1974). Besides fast sport cars he designed also “Le Car” (Renault 5 - 1972) and many other milestone cars for the car design.

Strand Beesten - Beach Animals

‘Strandbeesten’ is a creation of the Dutch kinetic artist Theo Jansen. The concept is about making a new form of life. Theo started 17 years ago with some simple mechanical beasts made of light materials like electricity tubes. Eventually these mechanical animals should survive in herds on the beaches. Theo Jansen is still improving the beasts on various territories, evolution has generated many species. The mechanical beast won’t get their energy from food but from the wind. The newer generations are even able the store the energy and use it to walk later on.

The proportions of the tubes in the animals are very important. There are 11 numbers, the distances between the tubes, which make the animal walk that way. Theo Jansen calls it the new invention of the wheel. “Infact it’s even better than the wheel”, he explains. The feet step over the stand which makes manoeuvring more easy. This way very heavy loads can be easier moved.

The German film director Alexander Schlichter is working on a documentary about Theo Jansen. The movie will be named after the beasts, Strandbeesten. Watch here the trailer;
